There has been a lot of excitement about the latest wearable tech gadget, the Apple Watch. I headed out to the Apple Store in trendy Beverly Hills for a closer look. It looks pretty slick and looks just like a watch, but with a lot of tech tools at your fingertips. The Apple Watch comes in various styles standard, sports and gold. The price starts at $349 – $12,000, the price varies on the type of watch and band you purchase.
Here are my favorite things about the device on my first look:
1. Apple Watch is Innovative
The design and technology integration of the wearable tech gadget, Apple Watch makes it the most innovative gadget of 2015. Apple Watch let’s you stay in touch with what really matters with simple glances throughout the day. You can also swipe the device or tap it to move to other apps on your device such as Siri, weather, maps, directions and much more. You can pair it with your iPhone 5 or later and setup notifications similar to the notifications you currently setup on your phone. You setup notifications to an alarm or tap on notifications throughout the day to see if you missed anything.
2. Apple Watch is a Health & Fitness gadget
Apple watch measures and monitors your daily activity with several apps. It monitors your heart rate, the number of steps you take and also measures your daily activity to provide you with tips on how to improve your health and fitness. The heart rate sensor lets you monitor your heart rate during workouts. The GPS activity application and accelerometer provides a quick snapshot of your daily activity, including the distance you walk and overall calories you burn. Absolutely love the workout and activity apps.
3. Apple Watch comes with a lot of built in Apps
Apple Watch comes with several apps. My favorite apps are the remote camera, wallet, messaging app, the “Who’s calling App” and notifications. Apple pay let’s you pay with your Apple Watch. You need to setup Apple Pay with your credit card to use it. The remote camera let’s you take a picture with your phone remotely. The “Who’s calling” app lets you check who is calling or take quick calls via the Apple Watch. I also like the notifications as well. The notifications app let’s you capture notifications on your phone so you don’t need to pick up your phone every 2 minutes.
The email app, maps, Siri apps are also pretty cool. I didn’t have time to play with the passports app, but if it hold your ticket and travel itinerary I would definitely use it.
I’m looking forward to getting one soon. What features do you like about the Apple Watch? What other Apple Watch applications do you like?
