Inside Out Movie Plot And Cast

Inside Out was inspired by Peter Docter’s daughter Ellie.  As she was growing up Docter was trying to figure out what she was thinking.    She was high spirited and spunky little girl.  Then suddenly in her tweens Ellie had become quiet and withdrawn and it made Docter wonder, ‘what’s going on in her head and why is she changing?’”

INSIDE OUT

We can all related to a time in our youth and even in adulthood when life happens and our our emotions change.  Inside Out gives us a look into the transformation, navigation and outcome of emotions.

Inside Out Cast

Disney Pixar’s Inside Out movie takes us inside the mind of Riley, a twelve year old girl who is guided by her emotions – Anger (voiced by Lewis Black), Disgust (voiced by Mindy Kaling), Joy (voiced by Amy Poehler), Fear (voiced by Bill Hader) and Sadness (voiced by Phyllis Smith). The emotions live in Headquarters, the control center inside Riley’s mind, where they help advise her through everyday life.  For additional details read Top Secrets From Inside Out Movie .

The Characteristics of Inside Out Emotions

Although there are over one million emotions we can go through in our lifetime as humans, Inside Out focuses on the  five most important emotions and how they interact with each other to help Riley navigate through life changes:

Joy—bounces and glows (literally), overflowing with optimism—to tackle the ever-complicated task of raising Riley—metaphorically—along with four other emotions who contribute their own unique perspectives.  Fear is in charge of safety, Anger ensures that all is fair  Disgust prevents Riley from getting poisoned—both physically and socially.  Sadness isn’t sure what her role is, and her efforts to get more involved in Riley’s life are not exactly welcomed by Joy. “Joy has been there the longest—Riley was born happy,” says Rivera. “But the cross-country move is really upsetting and Joy finds that she’s getting less and less time at the wheel, so to speak. She just can’t let Sadness mess up all the hard work she’s done over the years.”

The relationship between Joy and Sadness forms the root of the story, and when they’re inadvertently swept into the far reaches of Riley’s mind—Imagination Land the rest of the emotions must help her navigate life changes.

Movie Review

I get inspired by Disney’s ability to keep reinventing awesome!  This movie is just awesome and unlike any other movie  I have ever seen from Disney Pixar.  Words can’t describe the emotions that I went thru when I watched the movie.  It was a magical experience being transformed into the mind of a twelve year old.  We got to know the emotions inside and out, in the mind of a twelve year old and also got to know a lot about our own emotions at the same time.   Imagine being left without joy or sadness and only having anger, fear and disgust to get through your life?  I’m sure we’ve all gone through this emotional roller coaster ourselves or are currently experiencing it with our strong willed children or just by navigating life changes.

The character that I identified the most with is Joy.  I am always optimistic and even when I am sad I find a way to be positive and tackle life with an open heart like a ray of sunlight.    After watching this movie you will a little emotional and  find out how all the emotions play a role in life changes including your own.   You’ll also want to buy a fast pass to get in front of the line to watch this movie over again and again.
