NAMM 2014: Best Moments & Gadgets

We attended the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) trade show in Anaheim, CA.  There were 1,533 exhibits representing over 5,000 Brands and over 96,000 members in attendance.  We were very fortunate to connect with several industry professionals such as  Music artist Tori Kelly,  Guitarist & Composer Alex Hutchings playing on Laney Amplifiers and the “Forbes Best Producer ever” Terry Lewis .

We also attended the NAMM’s “Music for Life” award ceremony which recognizes individuals and organizations that demonstrate support for and exemplify NAMM’s vision that the joy of making music is a precious element of daily living for everyone. This Year’s award winner is Smokey Robinson.  Past recipients have included Stevie Wonder, Yoko Ono, Quincy Jones, as well as members of Congress, governors, business leaders, the Smithsonian, and Sesame Workshop.

The tech products were also very impressive.  Musician Tech Gadgets are getting smaller, going wireless and are easier for non technical musicians to use.  However, there were a couple of gadgets that require extensive training & practuce to use,  We felt like we were at CES for Musicians during our tour and had a wonderful experience.

Our Favorite Gadgets

  • Alto Professional Wireless speakers:  Built in Bluetooth Technology.  Sound quality is amazing!  Streams audio from iPhone, iPad, iPod or laptop without any cables.   You can also use it as a traditional PA speaker.
  • Korg USA Inc. Gadget a synthesizer  studio for iPad that has over 15 virtual synths that cover every electronic sound.  We especially love the drum sounds!
  • Numark iDJ Pro professional DJ controller that can be integrated with an iPad.  Pure awesome!
  • Jammit a music app tutor for the iPad that allows Musicians to isolate voice, instruments and music  tracks on original songs.
  • GoPro debuted the HERO3+ Black Edition bundle with mounts for music to help musicians capture and share epic moments.

Celebrating Latin BillBoard Music With A Playlist #SeHablaMusica

Music has always been a part of my life.  As a youth I danced in dance choreography and learned to use music and dance as a way to express my emotions and creativity.  As an adult I have taken dance lessons and enjoy Zumba fitness dance.  Last month  I watched and shared the Latin Billboard Finalist and Winners lists  and favorite performances.   Billboard Latino awards night went to Don Omar.  However, my favorite performances were Jenni Rivera Tribute and Marc Anthony.

To celebrate the special music event Target provided me with a giftcard to share my love of music and favorite artist from Latin Billboard.    One of the reasons I  love watching music awards is to watch my favorite singers come under one roof to celebrate their love of music.   It’s also a great opportunity to gather with family and create a list of new artists to add to my iphone playlist.

Content and/or other value provided by our partner, Target.

Music and dance are a part of my life and will always be a part of my life.  Regardless of your age, we can all celebrate life with some rhythmic latin tunes.  I really can’t imagine my life without music… Could you?

Here is a playlist with the songs from my favorite performers I made for my Zumba dance fitness.  Hope you enjoy it.

Giveaway

To celebrate latin music, Target has also graciously offerred one of my readers a $25 Gift card.   Please follow the instructions to enter to win.

Meet the Jose Cuervo Tradicional Mural Project Finalist

I had the opportunity to attend the Jose Cuervo’s Blank Canvas Event. This event marks the second stage of Jose Cuervo’s Tradicional Mural Project. As part of its mission to support the arts and Latin culture, Jose Cuervo has selected 10 artists from different states to paint an original mural inspired by Latin culture.

Each mural will be exhibited in a public center such as a gallery or museum.  The artist are very passionate about what they do and have inspiring stories.  They will be creating original murals in just 30 days!  I had the opportunity to talk with some of the artists.  I was really drawn to Ricardo Gonzalez Aztec serpeant artwork.  I also love Cuban artist Nereida Garcia Ferraz work.

The winner will be selected by public vote in late October.  Please take the time to visit the the Facebook Page and vote for your favorite artist at http://facebook.com/losamigosdejose.  The unveiling will take place in Chicago on November 8.
